It went by too fast for me to confirm, but was it not actually two desk sergeants reading Banks, though one reading Iain *M* Banks and one reading just Iain Banks?

I've been sitting on the fence about this one. I loved Shaun of the Dead, but reviews of Hot Fuzz have been mixed, on both sides of the pond.

Maybe a trip to my local beforehand...

Melinda, I'm definitely not much of a movie watcher, but I'd say this is one that can wait for video. I might see it again on video, looking for instances like the Ian Banks novel, but the theater we saw it at had the sound turned up way loud, and various editing and directorial elements made this a little more directly gory and less of a thinking movie than Shaun of the Dead.
